For more than 20 years PSCDA members have shared their wisdom with us. This meeting begins at 10 a.m. with two speakers before lunch and at noon there will be a delicious catered lunch.  After lunch we will have a third presenter. There will be time for chatting and you will leave with new ideas, best practices and stories that you can use with your clients.

Best Practices will take place at the home of Virginia Stout, located at 2822 – 10th Avenue East, Seattle 98102 (Google Maps). The cost to attend is $10 for members and nonmembers.

Jill Walser, a former corporate recruiter who provides interview coaching, job search strategies and full resume services, as well as gives talks on those topics, will present Everything you thought you knew about resume keyword optimization was wrong. She will provide tips for ensuring that your resume survives the keyword scanning process. Tom Washington will share the Power of Story with two short vignettes told to him by clients who utilized key job finding skills to land a job. We all know how to teach our clients how to search for a job, but sharing the actual experiences of real job hunters will make our techniques and strategies seem more real and do-able. These are stories you can share with your clients. Tom provides career counseling, job finding and interview coaching, plus resume editing. He also provides outplacement assistance. Tom holds an MA in counseling and is the owner of Career Management Resources.

Kate Duttro is a nationally-certified Career Development Facilitator and holds courses following the National Career Development Association curriculum. You can expect some lively discussion as Kate lists a few pros and cons of the job search using social media during her presentation How You Can Help the Searcher Become the Searchee.
